Hi All ! It's my first post here.
Using maya and max for years and working in the R&D Team of an animation company, recently I started learning houdini and see if it can help in the development. I've viewed those official video tutorials to get some ideas about it.
I have a shot on hand that is to do some rigid body simulations in Maya. Some objects are hand-keyed and the objects to be simulated is are parented to them. Most importantly I found that the calculation is too heavy for Maya.
Sorry but a simple question : How can I get the objects and also being animated into Houdini ? Also can I go into the nodes in the obj file if exported from Maya and imported using file SOP ?
Thanks first.

hey liu_0083
its pretty simple, basically u can export ur poly's as obj's and ur nurbs as iges files.
keep in mind that the vertex order in maya is imported in reverse - hence the reversed normals, so u have to use the primitive sop to reverse the vertex order.
hope this helps
heres a couple of scripts i use to export objs and iges files from maya
