Hey Cybermax,

Will this work with Visual C++ 2010 Express?
I'm just wondering which version I need to install.

Thanks!

I am using 2005(VC8) which has official support by SideFX. But somewhere I readed that express doesnt work.

If you want to use newer VS than 2005, check this thread:

check this

http://odforce.net/wiki/index.php/HDKFrequentlyAskedQuestions [odforce.net]

you have to create an environment variable and edit the path too

and in your visual 2005 setup check 64 bit compatibility package

I am in big trouble

I install catalyst 10.12 and houdini crash. I find that problem is in catalyst 10.10 and newer: http://www.sidefx.com/index.php?option=com_forum&Itemid=172&page=viewtopic&p=99518&sid=1fa53a2710ec8a466a1f2ad1990697b9 [sidefx.com]

so I want to install 10.9 but on Ati webside They have only drivers without OpenCL support(which I need for fluids). So I install ordinary 10.9driver and download extra OpenCL driver 10.12, but OpenCL doesnt work.

I need file 10-9_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_ocl, but Gooogle doesnt find it. So If you have it, please upload(rapidshare, …) and send me link.

Now I work with 10.12, because I work on fluids, Houdini only crash If I go to the shading mode, wireframe is ok. For fluids development its ok too, bacause I am just work with points, but I get some message with RBD problem, but I cannot fix it, bacause houdini crash.

PS: When I will have money, I buy Nvidia. Ati was bad investments!!!

Hey Cybermaxx, thanks for making this all available. I downloaded and installed and all the .so files got built. When I open your example file though, nothing seems to get cooked. The sticky says “Turn on Update Attribute” but there is no such button/toggle. I tried turning on all other check boxes but still no luck, I only get one point in the bullet solver SOP.

This is version 944 on Linux with Houdini 11.0.579

Am I using the right demo file? Are there any newer ones?

Yeaah I have little chaos in version number, but 944 from Jan 09 2011 is last version.

“nothing seems to get cooked”
and with nothing you mean nothing, like bullet_properties, bullet_multijoints dont have any output or just bullet_solver.

Problem can by with digital assets too. Try run “test_speed_of_bullet” example which dont include assets.

If all my nodes dont want to cook, you can try compile some from HDK example files(which you find in houdini folder) for eg. SOP_Start.cpp. Is it cook?

Hey Cybermax.

I had a problem compiling on linux.(latest build 614)

SOP_ETransform.cpp: In member function ‘virtual OP_ERROR SOP_ETransform::cookMySop(OP_Context&)’:
SOP_ETransform.cpp:104:91: error: cannot call constructor ‘UT_XformOrder::UT_XformOrder’ directly
SOP_ETransform.cpp:104:91: error: for a function-style cast, remove the redundant ‘::UT_XformOrder’
SOP_ETransform.cpp:82:13: warning: unused variable ‘input_1’
Compile failed

So I changed line 104 in SOP_ETransform.cpp to
UT_XformOrder order(UT_XformOrder::TSR, UT_XformOrder::XYZ);

I have no idea what I'm doing but it worked.

Thanks for all the hard work.

I start working on Surface Reconstruction for GPU solver.

Main work has done in GPU and first tests are fast(surface generation in houdini is very very very slow), but I have problem with memory limit and few holes in surface. At this moment It using Marching cubes algoritm and particles are representing like a spheres.

I decided rewrite all algoritm(I have many ideas) at next few days and this is my requirements:
-minimalize memory alloc
-metaballs
-faster
