Hi all,

Point cache tech is very common seem in maya and max pipeline. Recently, I try to import point cache with FBX format into houdini, but I noticed it will cause the Hip file become very large. Does anyone meet the same problem? Thanks for reply!

by the way, the reason of why I import point cache is I have to use nCloth tech in maya, some deformers were made in maya.

you can check Unlock Deformation File CHOPs option in FBX import so the pointcache will not be included in your scene, but you'll need the FBX every time you want to open your file so keep it relative to your project, you can do the same thing with geometry from FBX

exporting fbx geometry to bgeo files and reloading it to your scene also could reduce to file size tremendously.

You can try the mdd point cache. Point Oven in Maya to output mdd point cache.
