Hiya!
Just want to point out something i read that is conflicting with the hair model's description,
from what i read here:
http://renderman.pixar.com/view/shading-fur-in-king-kong [renderman.pixar.com]
the Marschner model suggest the first reflection is directly bounced back, it will take the color of the light, so this will be “spec”, and also R. The second highlight will be diffused a little on the inside, “diffuse” and also “TRT”, the last highlight is TT, transmission and which is correct in the hair model.
but on houdini's description it seems to be swapped, R is diffuse and TRT is reflect, i've only been houdini'ng for a year so let me know if im missing something but just thought i'd point it out.
houdini
also in the FUR node, when you disable proceduring rendring and let it use the built in “create_fur” node there is one incorrectly referenced channel, both guide and clump reference “clump radius”. I think this error might have already been resolved but incase it didn't here it is!
awesoome. Already loving houdini so much i cant go back to any other software
Possible mistake with hair model and fur node

Indeed. You broke it.
The latest build however fixes it.

The latest build however fixes it.
Fixed a bug in the Fur Object that incorrectly calculated the guide radius when procedural rendering is disabled.

The Fur SOP is now more robust against numerical precision issues when the root of a guide hair is very close to a parting line.Which is something i do have trouble with so that will be nice to test.
