Smooth surface without crumpling boundaries

I have a open polygonal sheet, how could I even this out without crumpling the edges?

The images shows and attempt with the smooth SOP, as you can see all the edges gets all crumbled.

WHY ISN'T THE IMAGES BEING UPLOADED?

That's funny. I was clicking the little square box at the end of the row. Works fine when you don't.

put the “not border primitives” in a group, then smooth only the group.
