Hi,

Not sure if it's my computer, graphics card or what, but Houdini keeps crashing on me several times a day.

I'm running Mac OSX 10.10.x and a Mac flashed Titan X with 96GB of RAM on an SSD drive.

I'm about ready to just purchase a Windows machine as a friend of mine says Houdini rarely crashes on him, mostly when he attempts to hit ESC to get out of a long cook or something like that.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jim

Nvidia's web driver OpenGl is not compatible with Houdini currently.

Does anyone have any experience with the ‘Trashcan’ MacPros and Houdini?
I've thought about getting one of those.

I'm tired of not getting anything done because of crashes.

Don't use one but people seem quite pleased with Houdini on the trashcan. The caveat being that true viewport transparency might be disabled as AMD OpenGL on OsX did have a bug. Not sure where that is at currently.

If you do get crashes you want to remove the preferences folder, and, setting the env variable ‘HOUDINI_EXTERNAL_HELP_BROWSER = 1’ helps too.

Good luck!
