Assign material to inside/outside of packed primitives

Hi,

I'm trying to get some nice displacement going on the inside of my fractured geo for an RBD sim.

Before creating the RBD sim with packed primitives, everything rendered great.

But as soon as I created the packed primitives, it lost the material settings.

I've tried various methods of assigning materials but none are working as I'm still fairly new to Houdini.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Jim

This vimeo video from SideFX on Material Stylesheets will help you to get the materials back. The Material Stylesheets interface is terrible, but once you get it, it works well.

Thanks Werner,

Between that video and this one: http://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini15.0/shade/stylesheets [sidefx.com]

I was able to figure it out.

I would also like to point out that if you try to use s@material_override, mantra will discard the whole material assignment. That took me a little bit to figure out. Also, generating material stylesheets in VEX is painful :-)
