I am having GUI speed issues with XP os, Houdini V8.440, and ATI FireGL X1 (AGP 8X). I have the latest drivers. The OpenGL is fast, but rest of GUI updates very slow, and does not redraw correctly.

My config is
Athlon 64 3200+
XP SP2
2gb ram
ATI FireGL X1 AGP 8X
1600X1200X32 (#1 screen), 1024X768X32 (#2 screen)

Have you asked ATI about it? It's definately a driver problem ;(

Since I have a similiar system, (Athlon 64 3200, ATI FireGL X2), I have not a solution, but maybe a hint: I still use a quite old driver - firegl-unified-xp-w2k-8062 -, because all drivers released since were a drop in performance, not only with houdini, also with other graphic intense apps. I think the driver is still available at ATIs webside…
