just how good is Houdini when it comes to modeling semi-realistic characters?

I heard modeling is Houdini's biggest weakness, is this true?

thanks in advance to whoever answers.

Moin,

I think the answer to your question is a question:

How good are you when it comes to modelling semi-realistic characters?

I have seen some very, very realistic characters being modelled in Houdini by professionals and I have seen my own modelling work, which is just as akward in Houdini as it is in any creative tool.
In a pipeline you will still want to have something like zBrush available to do “freehand sculpting”. Some people prefer a subD modelling tool like Rocket3d or modo or whatever works for you, others are perfectly fine with Blender or, well, Houdini.
It comes down to what *you* can do. Most of the *tools* are there in Houdini. Whether or not they work for your specific needs depends on how “adoptable” you are.

Out of here. Being called a dick after having supported Houdini users for years is over my paygrade.
I will work for money, but NOT for "you have to provide people with free products" Indie-artists.
Good bye.

Maybe this article helps in your decision: https://80.lv/articles/alexander-weide-getting-to-know-houddini/ [80.lv]

Personally I use Houdini for procedural modeling, Blender for organic modeling and Cinema 4D for hard surface modeling. The reason I dont do all kinds of modeling right inside Houdini is probably just because I am not used to it.

thanks fella's, I just wanted to make sure that Houdini had the tools capable of great modeling in the right hands before I dedicate myself fully to it.
