there is no current Documentation that can be read ‘offline’, all the docs are bound up in the Houdini help system….

this has come up many times before (a number of time by me) and I think it's really something that should be addressed for v9 at the very latest…the new help system is good but I cannot believe there is no convienient way to convert the files at build time (which are just fancy html afterall) to regular html that can be read without running Houdini…
there are a number of apps that use regular html that have searching function that are just as good as what is used internally by Houdini…

Hi there,

There is a set of pages available here:
http://www.sidefx.com/docs/content/home.html [sidefx.com]

They don't have the neat search features that you get if you use the integrated documents but they're good for reading at home.

It's certainly nice that's available but is getting a little out of date. I like to run a diff on $HFS/mozilla/help between versions so I can see what's new and improved )

Is there any way with the shipped Houdini docs to get the contents to show up? If I go to $HFS/mozilla/help/home.html the VEX docs link page arrives, but the actual contents never show up.

Cheers,

well, I use these links to the installed docs…just add your install path and put it in your bookmarks…primitive, but works…
