I’m trying to wrap my head around recreating a sim I did inC4d, the root of it is a floor grid made from hexagons (all of which have cylinders booled out of them, and rotated randomly at 60 degrees.

The fluid is poured over the floor, I’m taking a bit of a divide and conquor approach to eating this elephant. Is there a procedural way of doing this? I’m thinking of cinemas cloner in object mode. Copy/paste seems like the same concept, but can it be done in a hex grid?

As a starting point you could create the hexagon grid with the parameters “number of hexagons per row” and “number of rows” under the Control Tab folder of the “Create Hexagon Points” node. Then use the centers of each hexagon for each boolean cutout. Gotta run so can't do more than this at the time.
