Ever sence Houdini started issuing ‘…will expire soon’ messages, rendering has been on the fritz. Basically in a given session, after a while, Houdini will no longer render. Any attempt to get a test render fails, nothing happens. Mantra does not launch. Likewide trying to render with Ouputs also fails. Upon pressing of the Render button in the properties of Mantra tile, the ison of the tile turns to red play button and rendering does not happen. In both case, no messages are issued. Nothing happens.
What is going on?

Hi David,

It seems a render didn't quit properly hence Houdini can't render.

Please try the following:

Bring up the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc or Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager from the pop-up) and click on the Processes Tab. Look for mantra.exe, select it and click on the "End Process" button.

If there are more than one mantra.exe and clicking on "End Process" doesn't work or gives you an error, please select the next mantra.exe and click "End Process" again.

Once done, you can try rendering with Houdini.

If all else fails or if you don't want to do any of the above, please reboot your machine.

THanks. I had two Mantra.exe that were running as proccesses. But I still have the problem is that every session, Houdini starts to fail in rendering after short amount of time.

Hi David,

As soon as a render doesn't start, you can use the Task Manager to check for extraneous mantra.exe processes. Just use the "End Process button to remove the process & you should be okay after that.

I am sorry. I get no rendering whatsoever, from any project, at all. I LMB the render button in viewport and nothing. A Mantra output tile, turns red upon press of Render button. And there is no Mantra.exe, now, in Task Manager. Its like the rendering portion seems to have completely been turned off. I get no error messages anywhere, simply nothing happens.
Rebooting , the app or the machine, doesn't fix anything.

Perhaps its has something to do with re-authorising Apprentice, but I can't do that either. As the codes I get from SideFX are rejected by licence manager.

OK, as per request, here is the latest output from licence diagnostics. I would like to know, when and how can I re-authorize Apprentice. Its telling me that I have three days left , yet it keeps rejecting the codes. Why is this proccess so damn complicated?
