Houdini and Python?

A friend of mine has told me pyhton scripting will be embedded into Houdini by version 9. Is there any truth to this and does anybody know exactly what it will be used for?

Considering 8.1 was just released I doubt anyone knows for sure what features will be added to 9 (including SESI).
