Houdini Launcher Login Persistent

Hey All,
I wanted to know if it is possible to make the Houdini Launcher log me in persistently. Currently, I have to open the launcher, and "Log In" to use Houdini. If I reboot the workstation, I have to log in again. My license is setup with SideFX to be login based.. and that is perfectly fine, just wanted to know if I can be constantly logged in.

Houdini 21.0.559

Happy Holidays.

I also have to permanently log me in each time I start the Launcher or Houdini itself.
This behavior is new to me and started a few weeks ago. Before that I only had to manually login every 2 weeks or so, so I suspected an error on my side, but obviously this is intended or a bug of the later versions of Houdini 21.

Hey Steffen, Thanks for verifying that it wasn't something I was doing wrong. Once the holidays are over, I hope that SideFX can provide us with a workaround or tell us it is not intended for us to have to do this.
Thanks,

Today this landed in 21.0.588:

Added "Wants" to hserver and sesinetd system service on Linux to ensure both services run after the network is operational. [www.sidefx.com]

which sounds like it could be (part of) the fix for our problem. Sadly the daily build is still 21.0.587... fingers crossed

EDIT: 21.0.588 is out and I didn't have to re-login since then. Might be a fluke, but so far it's looking good.

EDIT2: Spoke too soon. Today I had to log in again.

Same for me too... it didn't fix our issue.

Success! Starting with 21.0.603 I didn't have to manually log in for 2 days in a row

This entry in the journal might be the relevant commit that fixed it:

Fixed a bug with hserver where it was unable to modify its file directory and also unable to properly save its server settings. This was due to hserver being downgraded to user and group "hserver" thus having a lower permission and different directory that wasnt being accounted for.

I wound up changing to a local license for my situation. That way I can still use Houdini if my internet or SideFX's internet goes down, which has happened before. :-)

I wound up changing to a local license for my situation.

I actually been using a local license server myself ever before. But a few weeks ago after an update this license server started acting weirdly, maybe caused by the same bug that also caused this thread here to start.
After a lot of trial and error and after having to fiddle with my local server every single time I started Houdini I finally switched to online licensing in the hope of remedy.
With online licensing I only had to log in once a day or so... but now it looks like everything is back to normal again.
