Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or not, but I can't get ICP to work

should be simple right?

> icp test.exr test.tif

shoud do it?

but I get the error :
Unable to create test.tif
Exit 1

permissions are fine, doing this in my home directory,

same issue with H10.0.295 and H10.0.430..

any ideas? I'm sorta stumped.

thanks

Seems this is now also causing some other problems..

I think the same problem of icp not working, is also causing my deep shadow .rat maps to not convert during a render.. during non mplay window output , I get an error during the main render after the shadow map .rat file is created and when it seems like the renderer is trying to access it again.

mantra: Could not open imager

strangely enough when i run a “preview” to mplay render this is not a problem

but maybe during preview, it renders the rat file to a buffer in memory and not to disk?

not sure

anybody have any idea what this could be?

thx

What does running “iconvert” with no command line options give you. It should list all the file formats available.

What platform are you on?

iconvert seems to work, it spits out the help, and then a
“supported formats are…” with a list of everything as you describe.

we're running linux x64 on fedora 10 right now, so I don't know if that may make any difference..

is icp a wrapper for iconvert? I'm a bit new to the underworld of houdini command line helpers..

thx for the help tho, hope we can figure this out.

I came across after running into the same problem. I'm on Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate. I'm using Houdini Apprentice version 10.0.249.3,
Platform: windows-x86_64-cl14
OpenGL Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
OpenGL Renderer: GeForce 8800 GT/PCI/SSE2
OpenGL Version: 2.1.2

When I try and convert a jpg to a .rat format I get the same error. iconvert does list RAT as a supported format. The help docs mention something about a ratnc format (I presume for hte Apprentice version, just like the hipnc project files). I tried “icp myfile.jpg myfile.ratnc” and that also failed with the same error.
