I'm not sure to have understood your answer.
System requirements :
“Mac OS X: Requires 64-bit Intel-based Mac with OS X v10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard.”
Probably it doesn't run cause on the old G5 iMac Intel the OS run in 32-bit even if it lets the applications run in 64-bit mode.
Is this hypothesis correct?

yes Snow Leopard.
G5 refers to the generation 5 iMac (the white one with the iSight camera).
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM51.0090.B09
SMC Version (system): 1.9f4
of course 10.6.2 is the operating system and not Houdini's release number.
