In theory my guides are perfectly aligned since I only planted them and bent them downwards

Is there some trick to get better alignment of feathers towards the surface ?
Red are my guides (and those are already quite hard to align it seems ?)

Alright, figured it out, instead of having the guide groom node inside the automatically created groom obj I added it in a new geo node and enabled shade open curves in viewport and it works.
Guess one could adjust the groom geo node which gets created by the shelf tool since it isn't obvious why it doesn't work.
Thanks for your help

Yea got it enabled on both, the template obj and the groom obj, disabled it, just for testing on the groom object, got this here (crashes quite a bit, this version)
Also downloaded the latest nvidia studio driver for my card (gtx1080ti) since I thought it might be about that (regarding crashes)

Hey girls and guys, can someone give me a hint what I am missing ?
Tried using a feather template on a groom node (create & output feathers) but it won't show any feathers for me ??
To me everything looks correct ?

AndrYea might do thatHelliIf you fill a bug report you make sure the devs actually read about your issue and you will be usually updated when they fix it.
Thought I mention it in case some houdini devs read it.
You might also receive some valuable information from the Support Staff (example: the issue is already addressed in the last production build)

Houdini 20 runs into segmentation faults veeeeery often when working with feather templates (didn't even get to using those templates yet)
When trying out new things one connects wrong nodes and so on and normally those nodes should just error, but in H20 you just crash Houdini with segmentation faults, please add better error handling in a future build.

This is more of a feedback for sideFX
This forum is a bit of a pain.
Knowledge gets lost, everything you need has to be found thru the search function.
Wouldn't it be possible to have sub forums ?
Basically it would only be necessary for the Technical Discussions to split it up into the main cg tasks (modelling, anim, rigging, grooming, cfx, vfx, rendering).
Otherwise great knowledge source here

I would love to know the same.
Since this is something one uses constantly when grooming (select a guide or multiple, brush them, select new ones and so on)

Houdini Indie and Apprentice » getting attribute in a VOP

Hey guys
I'm new to Houdini. My question is if there is a better way then using:
detail(“../../nodename”, “attributename”, 0) to get an attribute value inside a VOP.
Like in my example I created 2 attributes on detail lvl with the lowest TY and the highest TY and I wanted to use those atr in a VOP as source min and max of a Fit Range Node.
Do I even have to create Attributes for this ? Or can I somehow get the min/max of TY inside the VOP ?
thx for your time
