Last time it showed it was a layer I thought was flattened but it wasn't, so - user error I'll post again when I see it, thanks!

Hi guys,
I often get warnings that layer has cycles, even when I don't see any connection between layers - coming from disk, flattened, then sublayered. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Nevermind, some autocomplete digging did it:
>>> mynode = hou.node('/obj/lopnet1/asset')
>>> stage = mynode.stage()
>>> attrib = stage.GetAttributeAtPath('/tribal1/skin.skeleton_fbx')
>>> path = attrib.Get(0)
>>> resolvedpath = path.resolvedPath
>>> mynode = hou.node('/obj/lopnet1/asset')
>>> stage = mynode.stage()
>>> attrib = stage.GetAttributeAtPath('/tribal1/skin.skeleton_fbx')
>>> path = attrib.Get(0)
>>> resolvedpath = path.resolvedPath

Hi guys,
I have a python script returning an asset path, but it's the relative path. Is there a way to resolve it? Sorry, I'm not finding docs to read about that

Turns our all it takes is relative paths and UNC names in windows - with the root being just a branch in the UNC path, relative paths work

Got it working - using the usd_addprimvar() in attribute wrangle to add a new primvar of 'asset' type, and then usd_setprimvar() to point it to the file.

Search paths sounds promising, I'll try that! We'll be looking at a custom resolver too.

I've only seen that copying work with textures, didn't really know what kind of reference it should be. I tried adding it to primitive metadata, but it didn't get copied. Suggestion on where to link it?

We're now doing something similar, but these would still end up as absolute and not relative paths in the USD, right? When one file needs to define a relative path to another file which is on a different root, can't do that? I guess in the linux paths it's possible, but maybe not on the Win paths?

Sorry, I meant file system roots In our case the renders and geometries are in different servers and mapped to different roots for example.

Hi guys,
In our character workflow we still have to use some FBX - skeletons etc. Is there a way to add pointer to the FBX in the USD layer so it gets copied with the dependencies the way textures are?
Thanks!

Technical Discussion » H20 HDA save dialog problem with UNC/drive map paths in Win

Hi guys,
The new HDA file save dialog in H20 messes up the save locations. Our HDAs go to a network location in Windows, and no matter if we specify UNC path or a mapped drive, the path gets a 'c:\' prepended.
Is there a way to restore the old dialog before that is fixed?
Thanks!

Hi guys,
Can the layers have names? I haven't found anything on the topic. In the layer view the filenames or source nodes that are now naming the layers can be confusing, wouldn't it be nice to have a name of the layer?
Thanks

Yes Rohan's tests are great, buying that! Also there is the fresnel nodes that do the normal/incidence thing. I'll be checking out what's there in vray, blender and renderman too. Style transfer might also be usable as a component, there is a copycat model in nuke that does that.
