lol, that's what I did before I found the remesh solution.
but I'm quite anal about these things.. hehe..

Hi Guys,
I've found a better solution to my problem: remesh does a good job for what i need.
but I still would like to know more about the bricker angle, i can't wrap my head around the values it needs..
well anyway thanks again!

ok, so the bricker option looks good too.
but the thing is that i'm getting geometry from maya
so this has to work on rotated geometry (see image)
I've noticed the angle option in the divide sop but I'm not sure what values are needed.. I would guess I need to use the normal of the plane and calculate this into angle values..
any tips on that?
thanks again!
(i've attached a simple setup)

ray sop to the rescue!
cool thanks! didn't know about that one yet!
edit: but i'll try the other methods too, thanks guys!

Hi Skybar,
thanks for your input but the problem is with a subdivide is that i dont get a correct layout of the points, see image
or am i doing something wrong there?
thanks..

Hi Guys,
what I need is basically what the scatter sop does but without the randomness, I need the points to be in a grid.
what I've tried is subdividing and then deleting not needed points.. this sort of works but I just know houdini can do it smarter..
any tips?

ola,
the solution was under my nose the whole time…
I have workable solution that will do the job, any improvements are welcome ofcourse..

He Rafael,
didn't know that! (gotta love sidefx
anyway,
I've looked at your file and actually I already had a similar setup. (I still picked up some new tricks from your file, so thanks!)
The problem I'm facing is that I use a group geomtery node with the bounding box option to reveal the faces.
What I would want is that when a face is revealed on frame N , it's extrude animation starts on frame N.
any ideas how to solve this?
regards,
Martijn

thanks guys,
I only have apprentice at home so can't check your file rafaels, i'll check it monday.. thanks!
I've attached a file describing the problem, the thing is that I need the shape of the extruded faces of the spheres (as in tapered box)
any other way is welcome ofcourse..
thanks!

Hi there,
I quite new with houdini so bare with me:
I need to timeshift animation on a polyextrude inside a foreach loop on every primitive it's going through..
-but the timeshift also works up the tree outside the foreach, so I can't use this
so how can I get animation with different offsets on the polyextrude inside the foreach?
the second thing I'll need is a way to store a creation frame on primitives that I group using a bounding volume..
(I animate a bounding sphere from a group node, through a sphere to “reveal” the faces)
any ideas?
thnx

Hi there,
first of all I'd like to introduce myself:
I'm Martijn Grootendorst currently working at Mediamonks in Holland.
I've been working with maya for around ten years and recently got the chance to learn houdini for work so that's awesome…..really, I already love houdini.. (where do I sign up for the fanclub?)
anyways I'm hoping you guys can help me with this problem:
I've simulated a straightforward pyro setup with a collision with an object,
written this out on the import_pyrofields to a bgeo sequence
and then reimported this cache in a geometry/file node
in the viewport I get these strange “colorspots” see attachment..
any ideas?
another question:
can I write a flipbook to quicktime on osx? the Image viewer can't as far as i can tell?
thanks
