hi graham.. i if understand the expression correctly .. i could also do $NGRP in the impulse birth rate and giving the group name in the pop source. which means that get the total number of points in that group…. ok but the problem will still be …that if i have 10 points in the group .. that each point will emit 10 particles … where as what i want is 1 particle only per point in the group … rob's solution works but its not as procedural .. say if i have to keyframe my bounding box( which is defining the group)

hey rob thanks for having a look at my file and really appreciate working out a file for me. however i was wondering if this is procedural? My final goal was to have a sphere which is animated (animation which i can change anytime) on top of the grid to birth the particle from grid.

yes .. but $NPT or $NGRP ( used if i don't want to del geo) still dosent work … cause each point is going to generate those many particles per frame. What i am looking for is … each point birth only one particle and thats it … so even if the point is still in the group it should not generate a particle cause it already has birthed one particle.

hi .. i have a grid and am grouping points on it by a bounding box (group sop) and the bounding box is animated … how to emit only one particle for each point that the animated-bounding box is going to encapsulate
am attaching the hip file … with 2 options in it .. need a way for the first popnet1 .. i have a way of doing it … which is creating particles all across the grid and emitting jus from where the bounding object moves .. but that creating more particles than required..so not a good solution i guess .

hey guys … how do i make a force dissipate/ reduce over a period of time if its used in pop network??
Also if i have a a attractor pop and a wind pop and these 2 forces give a combined result by blending together.. what i have noticed is only the one on top gets the priority.

I have a geo which is animated at sop level ….how do i affect a RBD glue obj… It works when i hand over the deforming geo to Dynamics and it will blast the glue obj …BUT suppose i do not want to handover and i want to use the obj with its keyframes affect the glue obj ….then it dosent do anything to the rbd glue

hi .. is there any other way of attracting particles to a geometry that does NOT include attractor pop and a point sop with forces enabled. i find is extremely difficult to use and manipulate the forces to get the particles attract using this method . any other suggestions ?

john_z … awesome .. you are right that works .. though it kindda snaps, since it stops abruptly … guess will have to work around it .. BUT yes thanks it works!! was waiting for a lead since last few hours …. thanks !!!

ok so i have this one particle system made of leaves(with rotation) interacting with other - balls - and carrying the leaves up as and when they hit … but somehow i want to stop the rotation of those leaves that have hit and also not intersect in balls particles….

awww ofcourse  !! … guess i got carried away since i had learned haspoint() and was not thinking of other ways.
But suppose i have to use that function …..and so i could have defined both the groups in one node … and called the other group in the second attractor but then that is still not working…and suppose i had to have a curl noise after the metallball force and before settling on to the other shape .. how would you approach that.

hi guys .. this will need a file to explain and have attached it … so basically if the particles are within the bounding box then they should be applied a certain type of force .. but as soon as they are out of the bounding box some other force works on them.
in the file i have attached .. i am not sure if the group “remanin” i have defined in the pops is the correct way for there is something all together wrong with this approach
appreciate your help!
