first of all thank you for generosity . respect !!
appreciate also the fact that you spent some time to make the videos for those .
beside the ‘usefulness’ of having those tools , i find very useful also ( at the same level of importance ) see the ‘logic behind’ . houdini is an amazing 3d-environment because of this fact too . personally i have been using houdini from some time and i have in mind also to find some time to convert some project's solutions to otl-s . i think houdini needs a more active sharing community simply because sharing and flexibility are its strongest weapons .
anyway , enough with my ‘lustre and despair’ sandwich …

imho , separate otl / hda is the best way . for several reasons . ( e.g. partially use / combine those with other tools or assets )

I arrived to do an image sequence and import it into houdini but the images are jerky (I don't know if this is the right word).
Do you understand my probleme?
let me try ;
1- you may have lost those images' quality during the conversion process .
2- if you are using those as ‘ texture maps ’ , … try increasing the shading quality of those objects .
… or any other suspicious slider , somewhere near to those images .

hi ! ,
sure you can do that ;
try the “Combine” tool in the Modify tab , select the objects and hit ‘ Enter ’ .
automatically all the objects you selected are ‘ merged ’ into a single Sop network .
from there , as usual , right-click and ‘ Save Geometry … ’

yep !, i tried UNC paths … and those were the cases when rendered frames included few ‘correct’ buckets ( with textures applied from mantra ) .
apparently those are from my workstation …

hello to everyone ,
my situation is this one ;
i have generated a sequence of IFDs from a scene which calls and applies as textures random PNGs from a single folder . when i render from my workstation , everything is fine . … but when i add two slaves to help me render faster ( with -H option ) , textures are missing from the rendered image . tried many kind of combinations in the texture's input field , but the best i could get was an image where textures appeared fine only from the buckets rendered from my workstation ; not those of slaves .
machines are : workstation XP-PROx64 and 2 slaves x32 ( escape V11x32 ).
i'm using the mapped drive , which HQ itself configures , to read and write the files ( so i do not think is a permission case ) .
tried also to use a shared folder , but no luck …

that seems to be a Primitive attribute not a Point one ( middle-click on it to see that ) .
add a Primitive sop and manipulate its Color at your wish .
in my screenshot ; i simply removed color attribute from every primitive .

I downloaded Houdini Apprentice this morning and I keep getting segmentation faults when I try selecting objects in the viewport. This is my set-up:
AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition
ATI Radeon HD5830
4GB RAM
I've tried the following:
Different Builds of Houdini 11, 10, & 9
Installed vcredist_x64.exe
Went back to Catalyst 10.9 drivers
Ran it in different compatibility modes
It seems like no matter what I try I still get the same error. Can somebody help me out, I don't no what else I can try and every other topic about this same problem seems to be fixed by installing the Catalyst 10.9 drivers. Thanks for any advice.
this happened to me lately with my Nvidia . i went crazy … and naturally … tried something crazy the same .
> delete the houdiniX.XX folder on your users folder .
( maybe you need to backup before that , any preset of any type you might have generated till that crazy moment … )
> start houdini and let Him regenerate that folder .
( restore your lovely presets back )
..
this helped me and hope this helps also you or someone else .
