And now I feel stupid. Hey, someone should have said “RTFM”.
I just looked again, and now I did see that third party rendering is not possible/allowed.
Ok, so next question anyway then, is it possible to build a small renderfarm using the batch-version/just more mantra tokens?

Yes, that's the version I mean.
I know there's just one Mantra token included.
Your reply simply didn't answer my questions at all XD
What I mean is, is it possible to plug in an external renderer?
If so, can someone point me to a decent one that is possible to use for a simple farm?

I'm wondering if it's possible to use/make a rendering farm for the Apprentice edition(I have the Indie paid version).
In the license it says that I can use it for demo purposes and such, and well, I'm thinking about making a free renderfarm (As in free software) to cut down on my rendering time.
Is this possible?
There is no way I can shell out 8K for the master edition and then extra for the batch version to make a renderfarm..

No I have not.
I will have a look at them, the reason I have not yet is that I didn't think it was relevant for our ingame models.

Hello peoples.
So I've encountered some problems while using Houdini.
I'm using it for making models for Torque, but my problem is the textures.
For some reason, I can not figure out how to get things textured properly.
Could some kind soul out there write a small walkthrough with all the relevant info, from scratch?
Such as, imagetype to he used, what settings to use for the DTS exporter, what nodes are needed, etc.
It would be highly appreciated.
As of now, I can not find any info on it on the Torque website, and it strikes me as odd since SideFX and GarageGames made a deal so that we Indie developers can use Houdini for our ingame models.

I'm having the same problem with my nVidia drivers.
Houdini complains that I need updated drivers (Higher then XX version).
But I DO have the latest drivers.
Sure I have an old card but it wasn't a problem until the last time I had to re-install houdini (HDD crash)

Thanks, I'll try it in a bit, as soon as I'm on the work-computer.
Hey, I also am having troubles with textures for TGE, know anything about that?
If I set up the DTS Material, assign it to the shape(s), it works, sort of.
I can place a camera, light, and a Mantra-node and get a render with textures working.
But when I do an export (I click export textures too) it shows up with the same color as it has in the Build-view (Mono-colored).
The textures are in the right place etc. And I have no clue what's going wrong.

Hi all, I'm new to Houdini and I'm working with TGE from GarageGames.
I can export and all that, but I'm wondering about how to set up and name so called mountpoints for use in-game.
Any ideas? Suggestions? Tutorials I've missed?

I was hoping that support for 3DConnexions hardware would be built-in as well.
There is an SDK available from 3DConnexion though, that would enable SideFx to incoporate support themselves into Houdini.
I for one would be thrilled about such support

Yes I do, it's the default location within the installer-program.
I managed to get it done by adding an ROP network Node -> Mantra Render Node.
But yes, it was the default location in the installer. Is there some way to get to the script and add the ~ -sign perhaps?

Houdini does not crash, it just displays that error.

As far as I know, at least for Linux, nVidia is the way to go, they have the absolutely best drivers available for graphics card.
Check out their site to see what drivers are recommended and what cards they recommend for linux.
