I'm having real difficulty exporting out an stitched .abc file. The animated sequence get exported out as individual .abc files which is no use to me. Any idea how to solve this?
Thanks in advance

Technical Discussion » Import - fracture dop - export - wheres my uv's?

Ok so I have been pulling my hair out trying to nail down the best work flow for this….
I have an obj with accurate UV's. I import the obj into Houdini, do my simulation ( a relatively simple fracture dynamic) and export it out as an alembic and back into C4D for rendering. Somewhere along the UV's get lost and I have no idea why. If anyone knows a better (more stable) workflow please let me know. If anyone knows if there's a way of keeping uvs within Houdini during fracture also let me know. If anyone knows if its alembic export that messes this up let me know. all help as always would be greatly appreciated.
ps The digital asset route doesnt work for me due my amateur houdini build.

ok thankyou very very much. Yeah i agree it's only a testing model but will definitely take that on board. Aslo people like you really help learning this very difficult piece of software much easier so thank you.

Thankyou for your reply. What version of houdini are you using? Could you try it with the this obj attached? every bit of help is greatly appreciated

So i think I'm getting a bug when using the glue adjacent preset. The mesh completely disappears once I've assigned it within my dop network. I've attached the project if anyone can kindly have a look at it.
If this is an extremely obvious question i apologise

So i have what should be a very simple setup. I have a fractured object using the voronoi fracture that's put through an assemble and group node to select random parts of the fracture then into a blast node to delete the non selected. I have three variants of of these so i can control which parts get effected by my dopnet. I however can't make anything work with my dopnet and have no idea why.
This probably makes very little sense so i have uploaded my scene file. As I'm a noob any help will be greatly received.

Thanks for the reply, is the group expression node only in 16?
Oh also to add my very basic setup is as follows,
box
transform
pointsfromvolume
voronoi fracture
transform
blast

SO I am using the blast node, with a voronoi fracture node. Is there a simple way to isolate random fractured groups and use them within the blast node group parameter? rather than select each part individually? If there isn't… whats the best way to achieve this.
My goal is to have some fractured parts be affected by a dop network and others not.
Thanks
Sam

I don't seem to be able to export my test project out as an alembic file. Not sure what im doing wrong.
I have an autodop network that i want to export out, its should be simple but i cannot work it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I apologise in advance, I'm assuming that this is a very ‘noobie’ question but i have an animated alembic file that i have imported into my Houdini scene. I would like to turn that alembic file into a animated dynamic object that can effect a granular solver or RBD, based on its animated position. I hopes its as simple as it sounds
Thanks
