This isn't strictly a technical question, but can someone recommend a good place to post reels/projects to gain the attention of recruiters?
I am aware of Linkedin, but only regarding creating posts from my own page and I don't know how these would even be noticed.

Thanks for your reply jsmack.
I figured out where to dl the LUT I needed and how to apply it in v18.5 in MPlay.
For those interested, these are my steps:
(1) Set a frame range in the Mantra render node if you want to output a sequence.
(2) Either click Mantra node’s Render to MPlay or RMB on film reel icon at bottom left and choose mantra1 (Sequence). An initial MPlay - Render popup will open and then an MPlay popup.
(3) You can show the image correctly in MPlay in usual way by selecting LUT and Gamma in dropdown. To play through the sequence once it is rendered set the frame range in field below.
(4) To save to jpg format with the correct look, with MPLay popup viewer selected, got to File (tab at top of Houdini interface) - Save Sequence As (or Save Frame As if a single image).
(5) In Save As popup, choose a destination folder and jpg extension in Filename field. The Frame Range should show the Mantra setting in first two fields. Check Convert to Image Format’s Colorspace and check LUT and select this LUT found at link below: sRGB for ACEScg Houdini.lut and click Save.
The Rec.709 for ACEScg Houdini.lut may also work. Download from here from an older version of ACES:
https://github.com/imageworks/OpenColorIO-Configs/blob/master/aces_1.0.3/baked/houdini/Rec.709%20for%20ACES2065-1%20Houdini.lu. [github.com]

I discovered that the option for Color Space: Bake to OpenColorIO Display/View is not available in my version of Houdini (18.5). It only has a LUT option. What version of Houdini are you using for this version of MPlay?
Any idea how I could use the LUT option instead? I don't know what LUT to use orwhere to get it. Some came with my ACE download.
Otherwise, presumably my only option is to try to convert it to .jpg in Nuke from the ACES .exr?

I don't see that and that shortcut does not work on my Mac -- no Alt key for a start.
This is the MPlay on my version, I don't see an option to not overwrite:

How do I create a new flipbook without overwriting an existing one?
I know one way is to open options popup (Flipbook with New Settings) and type in a name for Flipbook Session Label.
But, I have seen someone use a top-rght corner icon to do this in the flipbook, however I can't find this in my version (18.5). Is it still an option I can find somewhere, maybe in a display option menu?

I think the Copy to Points node ignores the Pivot Translate of a Transform node, so it seems I must use its Translate/Rotate parameters instead to reposition the copied objects.

Is it possible to move the transform handle of an object from its centre to its base at the Geometry level? I know how to do it at the Objects level.

What would be the general method of creating a simulation where objects on the ground, like twigs and leaves, get thrown up as an object hits the ground? Would you use a force to blast them in to the air, and how would you feed the objects in to a solver, just Merge them? If you Merge them together as one RBD object how do you get them to shoot up at different velocities in a spray pattern simulating different density objects (rocks, leaves), or at least create some random velocites?
If using a POP Force, there is a Noise function, this seems one way.
Connecting an Attribute Randomise to the Assemble node rather then a POP Force node seems to be another way to give random w and v values.
Is there a better way?
This is different to the usual fractured object sim.

I have a simple scene with a Sphere behind a Box and a Distant Light in front of the Box. I want to illuminate the Sphere by making the light complete;y ignore the Box so it does not block the light from reaching the Sphere. Is this possible to do?
Light linking seems to be only for stopping lights illuminating chosen objects, it they till block light.

I think My app was acting oddly. The image does not show in the Scene View now, so it may have been a glitch.

How do I stop the COP2 Network image showing in the Scene View? Presumably I have to put it inside a Geometry node and deactivate its display flag?

Thanks, how do you show the image in the viewport? Composite View presumably?
OK Got it to work. Thanks.
It shows a desaturated image in the Composite View OK.

I want to desaturate an image form colour to black and white within Houdini. I understand this can be done in a COP2 Network. WHich node would I use to desaturate and which parameter do I adjust?
The image is an HDRI to be used in an Environment Light, so I assume this is the method to use.

Thanks for the file, npetit, and the explanation, that makes it very clear.
One more question, I see the Collisions Padding in the Collisions tab affects the collider object plugged in to input 4, but where is this parameter for the geo/RBD plugged in to input 1?

Thanks, so is the Geometry Representation menu the Collisions tab related just to the collision object fed to input 4? It shows convex hull whatever shape I select from the menu.

Thank you Thomas for the link.
So, if I set up a fractured object RBD simulation and in the Gravity node inside the DOP Network type $OBJ for Force Y parameter, I see that the fractured pieces move at different accelerations. So is this using the index of each fractured part being processed by the solver to set its own gravity force?

Thanks, I have v18.5 and there is no Show Collision Shape option, only Show Geometry Representation, which only shows the Convex Hull type whatever you set Geometry Representation to. Perhaps it wasn't implemented until later versions?

I have seen $OBJ referred to as an "Object ID".
I have seen it used in a HScript expression in a parameter.
Can someone provide an example to explain more precisely what it is and how it is assigned to an object and if it can be listed for view, maybe i Geometry Spreadsheet?
