Technical Discussion » Mplay does not respect "limit memory usage"

I know how to do this. The problem is that you want to write out mplay images without them being stored in the memory for interactive viewing, simple: rightclick mplay and uncheck write to mplay

not THE material but material. What I was saying is that in a physically based ray tracer, material is a set of algorithm that defines a physical surface/volume's behavior of reflecting/absorbing/scattering light. As far as I know, mental ray is an outdated renderer that's not physically based, and mantra, like arnold is a physically based physical renderer. I hope this answers your question.

It was easy and clear with wire object where I just need to dial the parameters under elasticity tab, but this vellum hair thingy simply won't become “erectile” no matter how I tweak it.

only super computer can simulate that gravitational lensing effect, plus even if you have a super computer, you'd need to write thousands lines of code. But if you want to fake it, you can write a custom cpp raytracer

I roughly read through the blog, it seems he was suggesting a system would actually be slowed down by using the AVX-512 instruction set, what's going on?

very nice of you to put the flip solver into test fuos, if only I had a Quadro GV100 of that sort, I'd definitely also test out FEM solver which utilizes 64bit precision as well. The “only one openCL device is supported” was also an interesting insight, what if I have a 1080TI along with a NVIDIA T4(accelerator), how does it know which one to use as the openCL device? (I reckon it'll use whichever is occupying the first PCIE lane, cause it'll have a device ID of 0)

I don't seem to be able to source in volume velocity, but the old source volume node works just fine, what's going on?

There is a gas surface tension, not sure if it's compatible with pop simulation, I also tried popinteract, result was not very good either. Any good suggestions? Thanks

it's just a clever manipulation of mandelbulb, you'd see the same kind of effect in Doctor Strange where buildings were morphing into itself

I assume vellum uses openCL, so the faster the GPU you have the better. Do you have a scene so we can analyze?
