Hi
I need to set up extra image planes for “cusp” and “foammask” for a Ocean Wave (shelf tool) scene i'm making. I'm using the default “oceansurface” and “oceanvolume” shaders.
How do you find the correct VEX variable for “cusp” and “foammask” to be entered in the “VEX variable” field in the “Extra Image Planes” tab?
I tried using “foammask” and “cusp” but that only gives black image planes.
Any help appreciated.

I thought about that Edward but i'm not sure if thats going to mess up with all the other stuff we're using on the mac side
And i wouldn't spend one of my return possibilities just to find that it didn't work.
I've pretty much given up trying to get this to work. Have spent way too much time already. Would be awesome if there was an easier way to get this to work though as H14 on osx is not very stable.
Cheers

This was harder than i thought I can't seem to find a way to change the actual hostname (“Machine Name”) on the PC side to include the “.local” extension. I can change “Full Machine Name” to match but not the actual hostname. It seems that “sethostname” was possible in older versions of Win but it's now handled by the control panel which in turn prevents the use special characters in the machine name.
I even tried to edit the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName) to bonsak-work.local but that completely #$%&%$$ the whole install so i had to start all over again.
The reason it works in Parallels is probably because the PC install can “see” the license running on bonsak-work.local on the osx side.
Should have thought of that
Any further tips would be highly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi
You need to pass “ptnum” from global into “i1” on the “Set Attribute” node. The “Set Attribute” node needs to know what point to change attributes on.

Thanks. I think iv'e figured it out using:
WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=“oldName” call Rename Name=“newName”
Only tried this in Parallels on my laptop. Not sure if it'll work because i don't have a license on my laptop, but i managed to get the same License Server code on both installs. Have wait until Monday to try it out with my license at work.

Hi
I have my locked FX license on a MacPro running Osx. But Houdini 14 on Osx is not very stable so i thought i'd try to install Windows 7 via BootCamp.
The problem is that the Houdini license doesn't work on the Windows side because the machine name is different. The Osx machine name is “bonsak-work.local” and the Windows name is “bonsak-work” I thought i could rename the windows “machine” to “bonsak-work.local” but that's not allowed.
The ip and hardware id are the same in both installs
Have any of you managed to get this to work? Any help appreciated

Your'e referencing your attribute with small letters “$ypos4” but its passed down the stream in capital letters “$YPOS4”. See the attachment.
When “Local Variable” on the Attribute Create is empty, the “Name” is capitalized. If you set “Local Variable” to some value, then that will become the name of the Attribute, exactly as you wrote it.

Try to replace the point SOP with a new one. I have no idea why this works but it seems the old point SOP was looking for an attribute called “diffr”.

So this doesn't work? Or do you need to blend your new attribute with already existing color?

I would put “$TX<4” in the “Value” field of the Attribute Create node not in the “Local variable” field, then you can reference your'e attribute in your Point SOP.

In a point SOP set the Color dropdown to Add color and then insert $MYATTRIBUTE in one of the color vector value fields.

With 14.0.242 on 10.10.2 with Chrome as external browser, Houdini switches back to itself after I press F1 or the help icon. It doesn't happen all the time but it very annoying
Any of you experience the same on Osx?

Hi
In the Osx terminal i'm used to hitting Cmd + K to clear the console. I can't seem to find any way of clearing the Python shell in H14 other than “print ‘\n’*1000” and similar hacks
Cheers
