Cheers,
I havent been in chops for ages (to do anything more than smoothing curves!)
Would I be using chops just to calc the accel then do the rest in a vopsop? I wouldnt mid getting it working in pure CHOPS if possible but I haven't the chops (sorry for the pun )

One way to think about Proceduralism is to define what makes something NOT procedural. For modelling it would be where you extrude some edges based on if they are open edges (procedural) rather than extruding edge 10 and edges 34-45 explicitly (non-procedural).

Crate a volume node and select the “From Camera” tab. You can then set the Z resolution. This is called the volume taper. You can adjust this with a Primitive SOP on any volume.

Technical Discussion » Matching Mantra motion blur with Vray motion blur ?

I have combined renders from vray and mantra before. Worked for what I needed, but dont expect it to be 100% as infernalSpawn said.
Just make sure you are using object sub sampling for motion blur in both packages as I dont think you can use velocity blur in vray (actually you may be, cant remember, havent used vray for a while).
Set your objects in houdini to use “Geometry Velocity Blur” (Render tab/Sampling tab) and you may need to timeblend node on your mesh to allow for sub frame interpolation of the mesh.
Make sure your houdini camera shutter time matches in vray
For the mantra node make sure shutter offset matches vray and that Geo time samples match vray too.
I think that should do it, or at least get you as close as you will get. Maybe mess with the samples to get the noise in the blur to match with vray perceptually.

Running 13.0.41 on a Surface Pro 2 256gb and can only run in software openGL mode.
Also when selecting the Flames shelf tool or any other pyro tool I get a crash on calculation of the frame, perhaps a software oGL issue??
The error is 2056: Fatal error: Segmentation fault

Thanks edward, that worked great, i put it in this form to match up with the channel names coming from the geo and it worked perfectly!

Thanks, Thats what I have in a callback now at the moment.
I was just wanted to add a different noise to point positions. The run command was setting the number/name of noise channels to match the number of translate channels coming from the geo so I had enough different noise channels to add to the point positions.
Changing the number of points coming into chops wouldn't trigger the update of the amount of noise channels needed.
Just thought there might be a better way to get the channel list into the noise channels
Ill try to upload a file later if I have time

Is there anyway to force updating of the `run(“chopls ../geometry1”)` expression in the Channel Name of a Noise Chop when the number of channels brought in by my geometry Chop changes?
At the moment I have to bypass/un-bypass the node for it to recook. Perhaps there is a better way to match the channel names/count?

Ahh yeah, right at the start I thought it was a tutorial by itself, not part of that master class.
Thanks!

Is there a way to get this working? I assumed that I could just add a parameter with the matching name and type and it would act as a material override (from the menu in the Material tab). Is there anything else I'm missing, or is it a bug?

Hi, I remember watching a video specifically on stochastic transparency samples. I can't for the life of me find it again, would have been a bit old but was interested to have a look over it again. Anyone know where it lives?
