Houdini Learning Materials » Need help with Cubes Rotations in VEX.

I looked through the Generic Cube March example and also tried Hard-code the Axis normals. It certainly does fix the scaling problem of the cubes. But as you said, the technique wouldn't work on this scene but overall it's still quite a fun example to try on.

So I'm looking through this example file of Cubes Marching.
http://www.tokeru.com/cgwiki/index.php?title=Houdini#Cubes_marching [tokeru.com]
But for my scene, I'm trying to achieve a Loop Animation of the cubes falling onto the stairs and then dropping off thus creating a loop. I managed to get the looping done, however the problem I'm facing now is the rotation of the Cubes.
Problems:
When the cubes rotate in the Y axis, the cubes will randomly scales in sizes which confuses me.

Hi, recently I started on trying out the cloth simulation, however I faced a problem which I need help with.
So what I'm trying to achieve is to have the Grid cloth object to fall onto the Sphere which is rotating on Y axis. Then afterwards have a force to tear the cloth from bottom to top.
1.The Grid have [VoronoiFracture] to create multiple cloth pieces.
2.I used [Deforming-Collider] for the sphere to make it a static object.
3.The [Meta-Ball] is suppose to be a force to tear the cloth apart from bottom to top.
4.I used [Stitch-Cloth] from the shelf tool to prevent the cloth object from tearing right off the bat. But now I'm unable to tear it apart due to "Hard Constraint".

Thanks! This is what I wanted to achieve
Also thanks for all the VEX examples you've made so far.

If that's the case. What I would do is just simply select the primitive that I want to smooth and it together, then use a / to smooth it.

Can't really tell what you mean by “Dark Area” since mostly are shadows. But if it's faces problem, you can try using a / SOP and see if it helps.

Hi, I'm currently learning about VEX & VOPs so far. So what I'm trying to do is to achieve a similar wave-like animation on the sphere red primitive faces. I tried using set() function on the boxes, it's on the point position and not the prim-face. So how do I place the boxes on the primitive faces that I group and extruded?

Thank you, blackpixel. Really helped me with this grouping of the books. By any chance do you know how to assign 3 different shaders to the BookGroup randomly instead of 1 whole chunk? :?:

Hi, does anyone knows how to group a whole bunch of primitive group together? Because I downloaded a Lighting challenges in OBJ Format which merged everything into 1 node. So what I wanted to do is to assign different Book Shaders randomly to the entire Book__ groups. But I tried to group the entire Book__ groups using Book__*, but instead it just group everything.
Any helps would be greatly appreciated.

As for that, I'm not entirely sure about it. You could try using the Delete by Expression ($LIFE>0). Or check the Geometry Spreadsheet to see the attribute values to know whether if it's possible to delete $LIFE.

I tried using a cheap method of group and delete the points when the particles turn black. Not sure if this is what you want. I'm not that great with VEX

Hi, I've been facing this problem every time I uses Bake Texture. I'm not sure why but there's always holes on my texture when I bake High-Res to Low-Res.
Which causes my Bake Shader maps to have the same problems as well.

Hi, I'm new to texture baking in Houdini. So I tried it on the test_geometry using Bake_Texture. But I got an error which state the geometry has “shop_materialpath” primitive attribute. Unable to Assign Bake Shader.
After I delete the shop network, then I'm able to use the Bake Shader. But I'm not sure why my colour output is green and my tangent-space normal is plain.

Hi, are there any good Material shaders tutorial out there which can teach me about creating Ice Shaders or the concept on how to?
Also are there any VEXpression lists which contains information about vex codes? Example like: what is @init/ @accum.
