Do you guys know how to resize a smoke or pyro container? There's a houdini tutorial, but it's for version 9, and I couldn't make it work for Houdini 11. I want to change the width of the container, but still maintain its height and length.
I tried to change the size attribute in the pyro or smoke node, but it wouldn't work.
EDIT: just figured it out. I need to be on frame 1 for resize to work.

When should one use Flamefront Container vs. Pyro Container? I don't know what Houdini means when it uses the term “flamefront.” Can anyone enlighten me on this?
Thanks.
Thanks.

It does not seem to control anything, and I'm baffled. Same thing with the “Toe Translate.” Does anyone know?

Thanks for the response graham!
Sorry about the double post. Anyway, if I were to post in the future, do you think I should post it on odforce first?

When creating Bones with IK, two of the available options are “Inverse Kinematics” and “IK with Constraints. Do you know what's the difference between the two? I've played with them and could not discern any difference.
Same thing goes with ”Forward Kinematics“ and ”FK with constraints." help anyone?

Thanks arctor! That's what I was looking for.
IK solution since to be pretty straightforward since a controller is automatically provided when you create a bone.
But for an FK bone, the FK bone should be the child of the Null Controller (and the node connection should display this as well). Is this always the case if one wants a controller for an FK solution?

I'm trying to use a Null for a controller and am not sure if that's the right node to use.
Anyway, what i'm trying to achieve is to make a controller that would drive a bone/s (e.g. a finger controller or a knee controller). I'm used to rigging in Maya, and I'm just starting to learn rigging in Houdini.
Let me know if anything is still unclear.

When rigging in Houdini, do we always need to create muscles? Based from the a tutorial in sidefx, the skin geometry was attached to the muscles. The muscles are attached to the bones.
Is this always the case, or can we attache the skin geometry directly to the bones?

I got a problem…
I am able to successfully break an object into TWO pieces. However, my problem is I need to “shatter” one of the two new pieces.
Does anyone know how I can shatter one and leave the other one the same?

evanschaible,
Which one is specifically for “grass affected by wind?” Your link just directs me to a list of various tutorials. I don't see the one specific for grass and wind.
thanks.

Does anyone know of any good tutorial for creating grass affected by wind?
Also… I am currently following this tutorial I found online (http://www.digitalanimators.com/HTM/Tutorials/using_houdinis_particle_syatem.htm [digitalanimators.com] ), but I can't get past step #3… I do not know how to switch to the POPs editor.
I'm a noob, btw… if you can lead me to a good tutorial or answer my POP question above, it'll be very much appreciated.
