when creating a digital asset, is there a way to limit size increments to 0.05 instead of 0.0001. I know I can restrict the range but I only want 0.05 increments.

I am having a brain cramp and can't remember how to do this. I need to rotate an object with two copies of it for total of three which would be spaced 120 degrees around another object which is not at 0,0,0 (Houdini center)

this would be best sent to SideFx but as I understand it Indie is limited to making $100,000 a year with its use , costs $269 (USD) for one year or $399 (USD) for two regardless if you use it to make profit. Indie provides you with some more options over free Apprentice such as: Houdini Engine plug-ins, 3rd party rendering, unlimited resolution in still/animation.

I have seen it in tutorials and with projects of my own, that merge node almost always throws a warning about mis-match of attributes but never seems like a big deal because everything always works. so why the error or why does everything work with attribute mis-match, shouldn't something fail or not work as planned?

in this screen shot I need the red object to be copied to every other point on yellow edge line. I have tried all manor of groups, groups by range to copy-to-points and I do not get results I expect. I know I am making this more complicated than I need to. I know I could do it by hand, it would have been quicker (LOL) but I need to know for future use. so I threw in the towel and came to ask for help.

I played with it and mesh is too far gone for a simple fix. the arch does not have same number of cuts as face/body, left side top bevel is same way, you need to dissolve those angle cuts and edge loop new cuts to get same geometry. In short you would be better served by redoing this with a boolean cube and tube. I have attached a screen shot of what I did along with the file. you will have to play with my file to get it way you want/need it to be or give you and idea of how to get it done. hopefully you will be able to open it, I have Indy

here is screen capture of what is happening to me. restarting Houdini did nothing, changing desktops did nothing.

I have tried several different models: extruded circle with 10 divisions, grid 10x10 and box 5x5x5. each was tied into a UV Flatten, with checkers selected the visualize comes out as triangles. using 18.5.462
I have found issues with following
Vertical stripes is normal,
horizontal stripes are circles,
checkers are triangles,
circle grid are 6 sided,
all the rest; triangles, honeycomb, trihexagonal all show nothing
edit: it looks like the UV view is messed up as well, no checkerboard pattern
edit: I just tried above with 18.5.419 and all is fine

I have an area light and it only has the scale handle, I cannot get move/rotate handles to show. also Z axis has to point away from object so I can "look through" it at objects. did 18.5 change handles on lights? on second area light, which has correct handles I do not have the "umbrella" shaped handle, just normal object handle. see attached screen grab

I believe I noticed that when I click on a forum it has a red underline. is this fairly new or always been there?

I believe that is correct. if you use CTRL-2 to split a single view, the two sides of the screen will share selection sets, however, if you actually “split” the screen each screen can contain its own selection, because each panel is considered occupying its own context.
that is what is perplexing. I had right screen front view, left as perspective. I can select edges and polys in left view and in front view but not points. I sent help an email and they said to delete/rename my Houdini.env file, I did that and now it works.

I have my scene view split side by side. I cannot select points in left side view but I can select edges and polys it also does not matter which view I am in (persp, top, side, front). I can select points in right side view.

tri(s) are 3 sided polygons
quads are 4 sided polygons which are preferred
ngons are 5 or more sided polygons which are not preferred.
with good polygon topology you won't get any strange artifacts when you render. artifacts such as creases in middle of a polygon
