Here is my attempt at trying to solve this. I used a PopWrangle to add particles to the group “hot” when the temperature is over 0.38, however, even though the group is created, the Gravity node can not detect that the group exists?
When I specify the hot group manually in the gravity node nothing moves.
Maybe someone at SideFX can look into this. I thought this was supposed to work…?

The gravity force can affect a group so you may want to take that approach. Migrate particles to the gravity group based upon temperature. Sorry I don't have an exact expression or setup for you.
Check out the example files under the help card of the PopObject. There are quite a few examples that show how to manipulate popstreams (stream essentially are groups).

Have you tried using the Debris tool? The time to apply it would be before you export it but after you have fractured it. The Debris tools creates bursts of particles along the edges of the fractured pieces.

It is the MacbookPro. Review the minimum hardware page.
You can limit crashing on OSX by turning off all viewport material options under Display (D-KEY).

Technical Discussion » Un-cooked nodes? SOP works properly in GUI render, doesn't in batch render

I find you have to force cook nodes that rely on scripting even in the GUI system. That is what those Script fields are all about. It is not just rendering either, it is any node that has an internally bound time range. For instance, if I move a bone with a script node and try to kick out a MDD file, the resulting MDD will not represent any motion, however, if I force cook that script node in the Pre-Frame field of the MDD ROP it will work.
When you invite the AttribVOP to cook are you doing that in the Pre-Render or Pre-Frame? It needs to be done in the Pre-Frame. Also remember to switch the field processing language from HScript to Python, this has got me several times.

It worked for me exporting non-ASCII with material to FBX 2014. Then I imported that file into Blender and I got my geometry and basic colors.
Make sure you have everything selected before you invoke the File/Export dialog. Move you mouse into Network view and try CTRL-A to select all.
Typically you have to re-work your materials anyway. While materials themselves are not actually saved with OBJ format, the material groups are so you can re-assign materials in the importing app.

There may be a check box for deforming geometry that you need to activate. Hard to say without seeing the scene file.

I'm not sure if this answers your question but you can reference a result from COPs in SOPs via a path with the prefix of op:. In the image I simply dragged the default_pic from the COP Tree to the SOP field node then typed "op:" in front of the name.

I think with attributes you may need to check if they exists before you add them.
node = hou.pwd()
geo = node.geometry()
# Add code to modify contents of geo.
# Use drop down menu to select examples.
curAttrib = geo.findGlobalAttrib("my_detail")
if curAttrib == None:
# Time to create attribute.
s = 1.0
curAttrib = geo.addAttrib(hou.attribType.Global, "my_detail", s)

I would probably just drop down a Python node and do all my string concatenation in Python. Then assign the final string to the parameter in ROP.

If you have not watched Jeff Wagner's video on VEX, check it out.
https://vimeo.com/173658697 [vimeo.com] (I know who has time to watch two hours of coding talk…I did)
VEX is more about snippets, let's face it, it can not even open a file. It can open a point cloud.
You can define functions and call them, but I am not sure if you can define a class.
VEX can not even do two dimensional array data types as of H15.5.
Any previous coding experience is advantageous.
But don't forget python is available as well if you require a full feature language.
There is a scripting sub forum on OdForce so post there, most people check both forums daily. There is also a French Houdini forum as well, I believe.

I think I found a work around to this problem.
If I double click on the .hipnc file inside of Windows explorer Houdini will open and route all those messages to the console.
If I open Houdini and use File Open, that is when I get the endless message boxes.
