I have been trying to install Houdini under the Ubuntu OS. The install works fine, except that I cannot install the program outside of the /home directory (user permissions and such). Can anyone help me?

I install all my versions of Houdini in the /opt directory.
I use sudo to expand the tar file and then to run the installer.
I've encountered no problems.
I'm running both 7.04 and 7.10 64bit.

There's my problem. I've tried running the installer from the terminal, but I can't figure out how to do it. (I mainly use Windows and never had this problem before).
