I have four items in my scene network obj level: a body and two legs. Only problem is I can't merge them. What's the secret?

I put cursor in network area, hit “tab” and there's no SOP merge capability in the scene view… I can doubleclick on one of the three geos, insert a merge but then there's nothing at that level I can merge to… Thanks!

Put down a Geometry node and dive in.

Then put down an Object Merge node. Then choose Object 1 down on the parameter tab. (Be careful not to choose Transform Object at the top, which is something different). Do that for every object you want to merge (or use the + button)

Then use the merge SOP to merge it all.

Hello Soothsayer: By the numbers:
1.Put down a Geometry node and dive in. (attached file 1)

2.Then put down an Object Merge node.
Then choose Object 1 down on the parameter tab.

3. use the + button to include all other objects (attached file 2)

unable to do following: Then use the merge SOP to merge it all.

Many thanks!!!

it is just warning you that some attributes are not present on all inputs of the merge node
and since the result geometry will keep all attributes it has to fill in some values for parts that didn't have that attribute

you should get the same warning with object merge method

just to make it clear

imagine obj1 has Cd attribute with values 1,0,0 (red clor)
obj2 does not have Cd attribute
when you merge them together the result will have Cd attribute
for part that belonged to obj1 it will be 1,0,0
but what about obj2 part ?
it will be filled with 1,1,1 (just the default value)

and this is all this warning is about.
so nothing bad, just to keep in mind what's happening

If you use the + button there's no need for a merge SOP. They are merged already.

If you use separate object-merge nodes you need the merge node.
