Hi everybody,

i'm new to Houdini and it's 7 years that i don't use a 3D prog …
I've worked for 4 years with Solidwork and has been difficult to me encounter a 3D program whit a similar approach in SW you have a tree that can always modify and in H10 you have the nodes. So now i'am realy happy to practicate whit Houdini and re-learn the 3D world!

Now the problem … i don't know what i've done but now wen i try to render a scene the render don't start and pop-up an arror in the console:

UT_NetPacket::write: No error
mantra: Error writing data to image device

Anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Which OS are you using? If it's Windows Vista or above, make sure you're running Houdini in Administrator Mode.

now i've tried to run as admin but i've the same problem, the sad thing is that previously it has worked fine … i don't understand what i've done …
Maybe it's better uninstall and re-install the prog?

Does it work if you disable any firewall and antivirus program you have?

I've been following recent builds, and I recall having seen the same problem very recently (last 1 - 2 weeks) on Win x64.

Maybe try installing the newest build?

Well, i've tried to disable firewall and antivirus but no good news.
I'll try to uninstall and reinstall. It's the relase 10.0.374, learning edition …
Then i tell you what happens.
When the problem have appeared i was “trying” to play whit caustics, maybe an error whit the files .pmap!?

So does it render fine if you create a new scene with just a simple box and point light?

i've tryied to re-install, but same problem
Now i open a new scene » CTRL+cube » CTRL+pointlight, try to render and open the MPlayer, nothing happens and when i close the mplay window it show me

“UT_NetPacket::write: No such file or directory
mantra: Error writing data to image device”
in the Houdini Console

if i try another time to render in the console i ave

There's a way to cleen completly the installation after re-install?

From the Hscript Textport window, type:
echo $HOME/houdini10.0

Now quit all running Houdini processes, rename that subdirectory and restart Houdini.

Well … now it's working!!!
1 i've completley uninstalled H10
2 deleted the directory houdini10.0 in documents
3 deleted the firewall rules
4 Restart the computer
5 Installed H10

:idea: I think the problem was in the firewall, maybe i've disabled it in a wrong way

EDIT: … even if before the render has worked properly :? …
