hi, i was wondering how 3d applications like houdini are developed?
for example which programming languages, compilers etc are used to develop houdini? for example is it 90% developed using microsoft visual c++ and OpenGl?

I would say 95% of ANSI C++ and 5% of Python. Surely OpenGL is in use. As to compilers they are clearly denoted at every build listed on download page. Go and figure:

sorry but i don't see where the compilers are mentioned. in that link i just see the list of the operating systems on which houdini runs, not the compiler with which houdini is developed.
Ubuntu Linux 9.10 (64-bit) Linux x86_64 gcc4.4
Windows 64-bit (VC8) Windows x64
Mac OSX 10.6 (64-bit Leopard/Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 x86_64 gcc4.2
so: gcc 4.4, Visual Studio 8 (aka Visual C++ 2005) and gcc 4.2 respectively
