Hello!

I've been using vray for the past year and am now trying to learn Houdini/Mantra a bit by going through the “getting started” lessons.

I am getting some really slow render times as my test scene spends more time evaluating python more than anything else.

Is there something I can do here to speed things up? Looking at task manager it looks like my cpu usage caps at 15% when Mantra is rendering, is Mantra not able to utilize all of my cpu cores?

This seems a bit odd to me so I thought I'd ask the knowledgeable people on this board.

Thank you and I've attached my hipnc file here.

see attached.
I couldn't get most of your scene to work due to missing otls, but i suspect the problem was that you were instancing the pegs onto each point of the pegs that were already copied to the grid.
