Hello,

i am a new user of houdini, currently going thru video tutorials, and i had a problem with one of them.

about noise for displacement, there is a pattern that seems to be following an axis, i can easily see it when i crank up the values,

it is doing it with turbnoise and aanoise so i was wondering what i was doing wrong, or not doing.

there the file attached

thanks for any advice

Cheers

E.

You'll have to change the noise signature from 1D to 3D output. The main difference between the two in your setup is that if you use a 1D output the same value is added to the x, y & z values of the position data, while if you use a 3D output three different values are added respectively to the x, y & z values of the position data which will give you a better result in this case.

In the attached file you can see a simplified example of this. I isolated the problem, this way you can see better what the noise is doing.
