I tried selecting primatives and grouping them together with Group SOP and then adding material, but it doesn't work??


Also is it possible to do translucency shader with just mantra shader?

I watched cmivfx tutorial but then found out that doesn't work anymore.

I don't know what is your mean !!!

I checked your project and every things works fine !

I append Group SOP for some primitives ,then apply different material to different primitive's group and every things works fine in render !

maybe your problem is in the using groupSOP and Material SOP , please check my file

Hmm that is odd,

when I tried grouping them they just wouldn't work anyways I will try it again when I get home.

Was still wondering about possibly creating translucency with just the mantra shader but I'm assuming this doesn't work.

I made simple Translucence Shader for you.
Check it , maybe it's work in your project !

For completeness, I modernized the shader in the above file as it was using older techniques.

- Replaced the older Surface Shader Builder SHOP with the modern all encompassing Material Shader Builder SHOP which supports surface, displacement, properties and mantra procedurals inside the single VOP network.

- Used actual parameter VOPs (as pegs) to promote the hard coded channel references in to the two Switch VOPs down below.
