Why are “directional lights” not a light type in Houdini?

Is there a quick and easy way to achieve the effect of a directional light in Houdini?

Set the light from Perspective to Orthographic.

Also there is a VEX Distant light shader that can be used.

The trick is finding just the right hammer for every screw
