Hi,
Here at work we've got a proprietary renderer, and there have been some requests from houdini users to get Alligator noise implemented in its shading system to make life much easier for us to interchange look dev between mantra and our other renderer.
After a bit of hunting, the r&d team couldn't find any definitive info on what Alligator noise consists of, in order to replicate it. Since many of the other noise functions (eg. worley/perlin/simplex) are all quite public, we were wondering if there was any public documentation on Alligator noise? Or if not, is that something you guys at sidefx would consider?
thanks!

Hi Matt,
Alligator Noise is Worley Noise with not much else. It's a cellular point based noise. Wikipedia has a good explanation.
Also covered in the book “Texturing and Modeling: A Procedural Approach”
Please contact Support to see what can be done if this doesn't get you there.
