Recently I updated Houdini to Version 16.5.268 and I've only been using Houdini for a few weeks so I don't know if this is my own error, but whenever I use the Clump tool on a hairgen or on the guides I get a fatal error.
To further test this I tried going through one of Sidefx's simpler hair/fur tutorials (the one with the bear) and I still have the same issue. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,
mo446,
I've come through this tutorial now, seems haven't errors. You've tried to do the same again?
Not sure, but maybe it's a problem with too heavy scene, your fur's density looks rather high, though I've raised it up to 88 thousands on hair generate node and haven't this issue.
Houdini doesn't give you even to use Clump and stop working when you press this Shelf Tool? I guess to try with low density and small changes overall during following that bear tutorial.
Or maybe it's a problem with GPU drivers.
Restart computer can help sometimes with many problems too.
Maybe computer's memory was used for someghing else by you that moment you worked with fur and it was not enough for Houdini and clumping/ grooming purposes.

You could always log a bug. I sticky this note at the top of a lot of forums here but people often miss it.
