Group Range on already existing group not possible?

I'm building a procedural model and the workflow would be trivial for many operations if I could simply select edges or points within a group.

The group nodes doesn't allow operations on specific groups, just the input geometry.

What I really want is to be able to use the GroupRange-node on an already existing group - thus being able to select every other point within a group for instance.

Is this not possible/good practice or am I simply missing something here?

right now I have to do this….but yeah it would be nice if GroupByRange would work on existing groups

Thank for your reply! I also found a way to pseudo-get this “group inside group” functionality by using the Group Combine node with the intersect-setting. It's worked for my use-cases so far that was troublesome.

edited for clarity.
