selection and snapping defaults

Hi,

is it possible to setup a default snapping behavior and do the same for selections?
I'd like the lasso selection mode to be my default instead of the current box select. Also, having midpoint snapping on in the Multi-snap mode by default would save me some time.
These don't seem to get saved with layouts and I wasn't able to find any other way to save these as startup defaults yet.

Any pointers will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Ivan

Maybe try: Save current Desktop as…
then set the desired properties, then save current desktop?

This is exactly what I've been trying to do the whole time, snapping and selection settings don't seem to get saved with the Desktops, or does it work for you? Houdini remembers them even without saving as long as it's open, but as soon as you restart, they get reset to only snapping to points and rectangular marque.
