is there anything particular I should know about instancing and using deformation blur? …or blur in general?

it seems when Im instancing and I turn on motion blur, I get no image whatsoever… :?:

Can you be more explicit on what you're doing? If I use the Geo Instance field in an object's Render tab, reference another object, move it, turn mblur on, it works here. Even if the motion is on the SOP level of the source object, it works. I suspect there's something specific you're doing that I'm missing.

while we are on this topic….
what can you do if you want transformation blur and deformation blur….?

Lets say an object moves(deformation) and the camera is moving(transformation)…
is this possible?

Deformation blur includes xform blur. Essentially the xform motion between frames is added to the deform on a point by point basis. About the only time you can get into trouble is if you want to use velocity blur but also need another type with that.
