Hi Everybody,

I have several blendsops for animating the facials of a character.
What I would like to do is to animate those to create several layers of animation.

For example :
the character laughing for 100 frames
the character crying for 100 frames
And then blend from the laughing animation towards the crying animation.

Should I do this using takes? If so, how can you blend takes.

Or are there other methods to blend multi channel animations with each other?

cheers

You can use CHOPs for blending animation data although setting up such system for whole character could be quite tedious. The problem is that CHOPs doesn't respect takes as I know.
This is very interesting topic and I'd love to hear more from others or you if you find your way out

cheers,
Sy.

Welcome to the asylum…
I just hope SESI realises how important this topic really is and does something about it.

To blend takes I usually group the channels of the character, then in CHOPs I place as many Fetch CHOPs as there are takes. Each of the Fetch CHOPs imports the samae channel group of the character.

I then go through the various takes and in each take I lock a fetch CHOP. In the end each Fetch CHOP is storing the channels from one take.
After this, choose your weapon: Blend CHOP, Composite CHOP, Math CHOP etc.
