I tried to rendering z-depth using Mantra in Houdini for Linux. There were always bad frames (the frames look like bar codes or empty frames) in the result. They didn’t have this problem when using Houdini for Windows. So i wonder why. I will appriciate if anyone can give me an answer.

Does it occur in a different Houdini build?

Make sure the format for the image is either .rat or .pic. If that's not it, then perhaps describe in more detail precisely how you went about doing this. AFAIK there's never been a non-beta build on Linux that didn't have shadow maps working.

Also, keep in mind that if you're using apprentice, there's a size limit. I'm not precisely sure of all the limits Apprentice implements - I know a watermark in the middle of a shadow map would make a mess of things.

Cheers,

Yes, more details please.
I get strange renders from the compositor sometimes but never had a problem with z-depth in Mantra.
I'm using Ubunut 6.06 and nvidia drivers.
