I guess the best time for a crash is when you are exiting the program, so it's not a show stopper but it does indicate that there is something wrong and I'm trying to get the most stable work environment possible.

Whenever I close the Houdini window by clicking on the top right window (X) button or File>Quit I get a pop up asking me to send a crash log to side effects software. This is the log:

Crash report from user; Houdini FX Version 19.5.493

I also get a similar message whenever a render completes, I'm rendering with arnold:

When I do not have arnold loaded it only sometimes crashes on exit with this output on the command line:

166630: Fatal error: Segmentation fault (sent by pid 10092)

Any thoughts?

unfortunately in ubuntu 22.04.1 itself houdini trying to crash suddenly
i think this issue related on ubuntu itself
but , i tried houdini in ubuntu based distros like kde neon , pop os , elementary os ,working good , but not working good on ubuntu itself
currently i'm using houdini in fedora 37 working nicely

It looks like the crash may be in libai, which is part of Arnold. I would recommend that you reach out to their support team and see if they have any ideas.

I take it back, I thought I tried loading without Arnold and it crashed, I was pretty sure it crashed. But now it's fine without Arnold loaded. So I guess this one is related to the libai.
