Hydra render from specific node

Hello - coming from Katana I'm missing quite a powerful feature that is to set a render flag on a node, and Hydra will always evaluate and render from that flagged node location, no matter where the display flag is set.

Is that something we can do in Solaris too and I'm just missing it, or is that not possible at this moment?

The display flag is what is what cooks the stage, and that's what's sent to Hydra, so I don't think that's doable.

In what scenario is this useful, though? When you're ready to render, you execute via the USD Render ROP, and that does not have/need a display flag.

I got some help else where that is a solid workaround that solves my question. it can be quite useful, especially in doing a lot of shot work where you need to jump to different location in the nodegraph and see the result in the viewer, manipulate things etc, and yet have the render window always render from the cooklocation. it super cumbersome to always navigate around in the graph to start the render.

Fair enough. Please post the workaround for the rest of us.
