Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has a good workflow from Maya to Houdini. Right now when I export out of Maya either as an FBX or alembic file the scale seems to be 100 times larger in Houdini even when I convert my units in Maya from centimeters to meters.

The reason for this question is I want my simulations in Houdini to behave properly and at the right scale.

Thanks,

uniform scale in Houidni to .01 has always worked for me, just make sure pivot points are all proper and so forth

This video about adding cloth sims to Mixamo motion addresses the issue of a FBX rig that is 100 times too big:

Yes, maya units is different. So if you model in maya a real car for example, you can set maya units to centimeters, and work with centimeters as if it was meters So your car should be 3.5 cm in maya, then in houdini you get your model with proper scale. But i find it easily just to scale geometry to 0.1 in houdini….

Thanks everyone for the help. So far scaling down to 0.1 in Houdini works best for me.
