Hello,

In Sop context, I remember how wonderfull are Motion path to fine tune camera animation :

Since Solaris I can't fine tune anymore my camera motion path, instead of that I see an apex node created when clicked on same "pose" icon button (named "animate" in solaris) on the left of the viewport.

Is there an explanation of doing here same thing as is SOP and with same simplicity ?

You'd need to have a rig attached to the camera - this can be done with the Configure APEX Rig LOP to either attach a simple prop rig (single control), or a camera rig with lookats etc

Then, in the Animate state you could turn on the motion path display (https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/character/kinefx/animatestatemotionpaths.html)

Thanks for your response but it's just too confuse for me to make it working (I admit to have no skill at all in apex for now).

Let me illustrate my simple old workflow :
Here is my scene, a simple room :

Now I create some keys in camera, while keeping in camera view, with the use of the good camera handles :

Then, if needed, I activate the motion path to adjust some tangent animation trajectory, here in top view :

And that's it. Simple and straight.

Now In solaris :
I create my camera keys in camera view, like in sop. ok it's done.
But, if afterall I make decision that here I need motion path adjustment, I need to redo all my keys in apex ?

Also, with apex I see camera icon at one place but in camera view I'm at another place (cf. scene file) :

I also don't manage to display tangent :

All in all why it's so complicated and we still don't have same features than in sop ?
Can you give me some brightness on this points ?
Thank you

There isn't currently a way to get tangent handles in the APEX motion path - that's on the todo list for some future work.

If you have existing animation on the camera, one option is to bake that existing animation to the APEX rig and then animate on top of it. This option exists for the "Prop" rig mode on Configure APEX Rig (which has a simple transform control for the camera), but isn't available yet for the camera rigs.

Going back upstream to the original camera LOP is also an option if you want to just edit the original keys more. The LOP is being evaluated each frame and produces time-sampled USD attributes (i.e. dense samples) so downstream operations won't see the original sparse keyframes
